Roland Hofer (born June 24, 1990 in Sterzing ) is an Italian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Ritten Sport in the Alps Hockey League since August 2016 .

Career

Roland Hofer began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of the WSV Sterzing Broncos , for whose senior team he was active in the A2 series from 2006 to 2008 . He then spent a year with the U20 juniors of the Finnish top club HIFK Helsinki . The defender was then on the ice for one year each in the Finnish second division, the Mestis , for Vaasan Sport and HeKi . Between 2011 and 2014 he was active at Peliitat in the Mestis and developed into a national player.

Between August 2014 and February 2016 he was back under contract in his home country with HC Bozen , with whom he played in the Austrian ice hockey league .

International

For Italy, Hofer took part in the junior division in the U18 junior world championships in Division I 2008 , the U20 junior world championships in Division II in 2008 and the U20 junior world championships in Division I in 2009 and 2010 .

At senior level he was at the World Cup of the top division in 2012 in the line-up of his country . In the following years he was regularly appointed to the national team, but no longer nominated for world championship tournaments.
