Mark Demetz (born February 17, 1981 in Brixen ) is a former Italian ice hockey goalkeeper who was most recently under contract with the WSV Sterzing Broncos .

Career

Demetz played the last three championships with Valpellice and made a total of 106 appearances in the A2 series . Before that he was also under contract with Val Gardena , SHC Fassa , HC Varese , HC Pustertal , Turin and Milan .

In 1997 he rose to Serie A with Val Gardena and moved to Fassa a season later. In 1999 he guarded the goal of Varese in Serie A1 and was named the best goalkeeper in the U20 Junior C World Championship. From 2000 to 2002 he was on the ice for HC Pustertal and moved to Valpellice in 2006, where he had to concede 66 goals in 29 championship games last year and was named the best goalkeeper in the entire league. Especially in the play-offs, he proved to be a sure source of support.

In summer 2009 he moved to the reigning Italian champions HC Bozen , where he was number two in goal. As in the previous year, the number one at HC Bozen was the Finn Päsi Häkkinen . Towards the end of the 2009/10 season, he switched to the farm team partner of HC Bozen, HC Eppan , with whom he immediately became champions of the A2 series in 2010. In the 2012/13 season he was again able to win the championship title of the A2 series with HC Eppan. Demetz played a key role in winning this title. From minute 24:57 in the fifth and decisive game of the semifinals until the end of the last game of the finals in regular time he did not score for 363 minutes and 13 seconds. Demetz returned to Val Gardena for the 2013/14 season. He let his career end in the 2015/16 season at WSV Sterzing Broncos .

International

For Italy Demetz took part in the junior division in the U18 Junior B World Championship in 1999 and the U20 Junior C World Championship in 1999 . He was also in Italy's squad at the U20 Junior B World Championships in 1997 , 2000 and 2001 .
