The ice hockey department was founded with the entire club and initially played its home games in Rīgas Sporta pils . The club's men's team was relocated to HK Riga 2000 in 2000 . The other junior teams take part in the respective Latvian junior league classes.
From 2004 the U20 junior team of the club took part under the name SK Riga 20 in the Samsung Premjerliga and thus the highest Latvian league in ice hockey. The squad consisted mainly of the members of the Latvian U20 national team, who were preparing for international tournaments while the league was playing. In 2007 the club moved to the Akadēmijas ledus hall and the team continued to play as SK LSPA / Riga . The team was trained by Olegs Znaroks until 2008 , before Vjačeslavs Nazarovs took over this position.
In the summer of 2009, the U20 team was dissolved, the team was incorporated into the KHL Club Dinamo Riga and renamed Dinamo Juniors Riga . From then on, SK Riga played with its U18 team in the Latvian ice hockey league and in the Latvian U18 and U20 youth leagues.
