The 1999/2000 season was the ninth season of the Latvian Ice Hockey League , the highest Latvian ice hockey league . The HK Liepājas Metalurgs became champions for the first time in the club's history .

In the main round, the five teams played 16 games each. The two best-placed teams qualified for the final round, in which the champions were played. For this was the HK Liepājas Metalurgs , who took part in the game operation of the East European Hockey League during the main round , automatically qualified. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
