Juraj Mikuš (born November 30, 1988 in Trenčín , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Sparta Prague in the Czech extra league since July 2014 .

Career

Juraj Mikuš began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth division of HC Dukla Trenčín . For his professional team, the defender made his debut in the extra league in the 2006/07 season . In his rookie year he remained pointless and punished in a total of 29 games. Then the left shooter was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2007 in the fifth round as a total of 134 players by the Toronto Maple Leafs . First he stayed for another two years in his Slovak homeland with Dukla Trenčín before he was ordered to North America for the 2009/10 season . There the Slovak was accepted into the squad of the Toronto Marlies , the farm team of the Maple Leafs, from the American Hockey League . In the following three game years, Mikuš completed over 200 AHL games for the Marlies, but never got the chance to play for the Maple Leafs. Therefore, he decided to return to Europe in 2012, where he was under contract with HC Lev Prague in the Continental Hockey League from June 2012 .

In the 2013/14 season it was used only irregularly. At the beginning of July 2014 Lev Prag withdrew from the KHL game operations and Mikuš switched to HC Sparta Prague from the Czech Extraliga .

International

For Slovakia , Mikuš took part in the U18 Junior World Championship in 2006 and the U20 Junior World Championship in 2008 .
