Curtis Hamilton (born December 4, 1991 in Tacoma , Washington ) is an American - Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Belfast Giants in the Elite Ice Hockey League since 2019 .

Career

Curtis Hamilton, who has both US and Canadian citizenship, began his career in Kelowna with the local Junior Rockets . 2006/07 he played for Okanagan Rockets in a youth league in the province of British Columbia and was drawn in the WHL Bantam Draft by the Saskatoon Blades in the second round as 36th player. He spent the next four years with the team from the capital of Saskatchewan in the Western Hockey League . In the 2010 NHL Entry Draft , he was drawn by the Edmonton Oilers in the second round as the 48th player. In 2011 he moved there, but in the following years was almost exclusively used in their farm team, the Oklahoma City Barons , in the American Hockey League , whose record player he is with 208 appearances in four years. On April 9, 2015, he completed his only NHL game for the Edmonton Oilers. When his contract expired after the season, he moved to Europe and joined HC Sparta Prague from the Czech Extraliga , where he achieved the best plus / minus balance of the main round of the league in his first season .

In the summer of 2016, Hamilton left the traditional Czech club and moved to SaiPa Lappeenranta in the Finnish Liiga . There he played until mid-February 2017 before he was loaned to league rivals TPS Turku .

In the 2018/19 season he played for the EC Graz 99ers .

International

Curtis Hamilton represented Canada for the first time at the U18 World Cup in 2008 , in which the Canadians finished fourth. He scored one goal and four assists in six games. At the U20 World Cup in 2011 , he and his team won the silver medal after losing to Russia in the final .

At the Spengler Cup 2015 , Hamilton was used for the first time in Team Canada and won the traditional tournament with a 4: 3 final victory against HC Lugano .
