Leoš Čermák (born March 13, 1978 in Třebíč , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Kometa Brno in the Czech extra league since 2011 .
Career
Leoš Čermák began his career in his hometown in the youth teams of the SK Horácká Slavia Třebíč . For the first team of the club he made his debut in the second-rate first division during the 1997/98 season . In the following two seasons he established himself in the men's team before moving to HC Slavia Prague in 2000 .
In the middle of the 2001/02 season he moved within the Extraliga to HC Vítkovice , with whom he reached the playoff final and was runner-up behind HC Sparta Prague . After this success he left the Czech Republic and signed a contract with the Russian super league club HK Sibir Novosibirsk . A year later he returned to his native country to play for the Bílí Tygři Liberec for the next three years . With the White Tigers he reached the playoff semifinals in the 2004/05 game year , but in which they failed at the eventual champions, HC Moeller Pardubice . A year later Liberec won the regular season, but failed in the quarterfinals at HC České Budějovice .
2006 Čermák returned for 22 games to HC Slavia Prague, but ended the season again in Liberec. In the playoffs of the 2007/08 season , Čermák was one of the most productive players in the league and led his team to the playoff semi-finals. Due to the performance shown, he received a contract with the KHL club and reigning Russian champions Salawat Julajew Ufa , with whom he won the regular season in the 2008/09 season, but was eliminated in the playoff round of 16. After this failure, Čermák's contract was not renewed and he decided to move to HK Sibir Novosibirsk . In the 2010/11 season he was under contract with league rivals Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod . For the 2011/12 season he returned to his Czech homeland and joined HC Kometa Brno from the Extraliga. There he initially acted as assistant captain, and since 2013 as team captain.
International
Leoš Čermák was appointed to the Czech national team for the first time in his career during the 2001/02 season and took part in the 2002 Karjala Cup . Between 2006 and 2009 he was regularly used in preparation games and tournaments of the Euro Hockey Tour , but never nominated for a World Cup or Olympic Winter Games .
