Career

Radim Rulík began his career as an ice hockey coach at Dynamo Karlovy Vary , for whose professional team he worked from 1991 to 1996 as an assistant coach, initially in the second Czechoslovak division and from the 1993/94 season in the second Czech division . He then spent five years in the same position at HC Keramika Plzeň from the Czech extra league . At the same time as Keramika Plzeň was playing, he was assistant coach in 2000 and 2001 for the Czech U20 national team, which won the gold medal at the U20 World Junior Championship in both years. In the 2001/02 season he worked as an assistant for his ex-club HC Becherovka Karlovy Vary, which had meanwhile been promoted to the Extraliga.

In the 2002/03 season , Rulík worked for the first time abroad, when he looked after the HK Awangard Omsk from the Russian Super League as an assistant coach under his compatriot Ivan Hlinka . From 2003 to 2005 he was again active for HC Energie Karlovy Vary, initially for a year as an assistant and then in the 2004/05 season for the first time in his career as head coach. He was also assistant to the Czech national team at the 2004 World Cup of Hockey and the 2005 World Cup . At the latter he became world champion with the Czech Republic in 2005 as an assistant coach. In the 2005/06 and 2007/08 seasons he was assistant coach at his ex-club HC Lasselsberger Plzeň from the Extraliga and in 2006 initially head coach and in 2008 assistant coach of the Czech U20 national team.

In the 2008/09 season , Rulík achieved as head coach with HC Znojemští Orli, although athletic relegation in the extra league, but then the club's license was sold, whereupon the Czech joined the KLH Chomutov from the 1st division. There he was head coach for a little over a year before he became assistant coach at the Extraliga participant HC Sparta Prague in October 2010 . He held this position until April 2011. Since June 2011 he has been the head coach of the newly founded HC Lev Poprad from the Continental Hockey League . In May 2012 he became head coach of the Slovak team HC Košice , but was dismissed in November of the same year.

For the 2013/14 season he was head coach at HC Banik Sokolov from the third Czech division, but received an offer from HC Litvínov in October 2013 to become head coach there. Ultimately, he looked after the team until January 2018, won the Czech championship title with Litvínov in 2015 and was named Trainer of the Year 2015.

In January 2018 he was fired from HC Litvínov and replaced by Jiří Šlégr . A few days later he became assistant coach at HC Sparta Prague.
