Jakub Klepiš (born June 5, 1984 in Prague , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Oceláři Třinec in the Czech extra league since November 2014 .
Career
Jakub Klepiš started his career with the Portland Winter Hawks in the Canadian junior league Western Hockey League , after which he returned to his home country for HC Slavia Prague . In the 2002 NHL Entry Draft , Klepis was selected ( drafted ) as 16th in the first round by the Ottawa Senators .
Without having played a single NHL game, Jakub Klepiš was transferred to the Buffalo Sabers in 2003 in exchange with Václav Varaďa and on March 9, 2004 for Mike Grier to the Capitals. But even there he was initially only used in their farm teams , the Portland Pirates and the Hershey Bears , in the AHL. The 2005/06 season was to be his most successful to date: In addition to his first NHL appearances for Washington, Klepis won the Calder Cup and the AHL championship with the Hershey Bears . Also in the 2006/07 season , the Czech was used in both the NHL and the AHL. During his time in the National Hockey League , he played a total of 66 games for the Washington Capitals . In the middle of the 2007/08 season he moved back to his home country and played for HC Slavia Prague .
Between 2008 and 2010 Jakub Klepiš was under contract with HK Awangard Omsk in the KHL, before moving to Salawat Julajew Ufa within the league in July 2010 , with whom he won the Gagarin Cup in the 2010/11 season . In the 2011/12 season he scored three goals and two assists in 15 games for Ufa before his contract was terminated in October 2011. He was then put on the waiver list by Ufa and could be selected by other KHL teams within 48 hours. After he was initially selected by Metallurg Novokuznetsk , the team transferred him hours later against a first-round vote for the KHL Junior Draft to the OHK Dynamo . With Dynamo he won the Gagarin Cup again at the end of the season before moving to the new KHL participant HC Lev Prague in May 2012 . With Lev Prague he reached the KHL play-off final in 2014. After this success, his contract was not extended and Jakub Klepiš moved to Färjestad BK from Svenska Hockeyligan .
Since November 2014 he has been under contract with HC Oceláři Třinec in the Czech Republic and reached the play-off final of the Extraliga with this at the end of the season, in which the team from Třinec lost to HC Litvínov with 2: 4 wins.
