Michal Mařík (born May 18, 1975 in Plzeň ) is a former Czech ice hockey goalkeeper who played in Germany for the Dresdner Eislöwen in the 2nd Bundesliga ice hockey .

Career

Michal Mařík began his career at HC Plzeň , for whom he played his first games in the Czech extra league in 1993 . From 1996 he acted as a regular goalkeeper, but was only used as a backup in the following season and also played two games at HC Karlovy Vary before moving to HC České Budějovice in 1998 . At first he was only used as the second goalkeeper, but after one season he became the club's regular goalkeeper for three seasons. Via the stations HC Zlín , HC Třinec and HC Havířov , he came to HC Chemopetrol in 2003 , where he played one of his best seasons. After several positions in the second and third league of the Czech Republic, he came to Norway in the GET leagues to Stjernen Hockey during the 2006/07 season .

“With Michal Mařík, a very experienced goalkeeper from Norway is coming to Dresden, who has held up successfully in the Extraliga for many years. He will definitely play a very good role in Dresden and will enable us to start the new season with strong support, ”says manager Jan Tabor about Mařík. He was able to meet the expectations of an experienced goalkeeper during the league season after his engagement and, together with the Eislöwen team, made it to the 2nd Bundesliga . His contract was extended for a year shortly after this success.

At the DEL All-Star Game in Dresden in February 2008, Mařík was voted the best player in the European national team. Only because of the injury to Dimitrij Kotschnew was he called into the squad at short notice and played there with his team-mate from the Dresden Ice Lions , Petr Sikora , in the European team. In the summer of 2009, Mařík moved to the Adendorfer EC , where he worked both as a player and as a coach in the youth field until the end of the 2010/11 season . After the season the Czech ended his active career and started working as a goalkeeping coach in Pilsen .

At the end of January 2012, however, he returned as a goalkeeper in the 2nd Bundesliga ice hockey when he was signed by the Landshut Cannibals as a substitute goalkeeper for the remainder of the 2011/12 season .

International

Michal Mařík represented his home country at the U18 European Junior Championships in 1993 and the 1995 World Junior Championships .
