Petr Sikora (born October 27, 1970 in Karviná , Czechoslovakia ) is a former German - Czech ice hockey player who was active for many years in the second and third German division, including for the EC Peiting , the Dresdner Eislöwen , the Kassel Huskies and the ESV Kaufbeuren . Since the end of his career in 2016, he has been working as a youth coach at HC Oceláři Třinec .

Career

Petr Sikora began his career at HC Vítkovice , for whom he was on the ice for the first time in the 1st division of Czechoslovakia in 1991/92 . He played for his home club until 1994, before moving to the then second division club EC Peiting in 1997 . After an unsuccessful season for the Peitinger, the EC was then downgraded to the then 2nd League South (Regionalliga), in which Petr Sikora shone with 48 goals and 59 assists in 48 games. The following season he played with the Havířov Panthers in the Czech Extra League before moving back to Peiting in 2000. This time Sikora shouldn't stay that long, because in summer 2001 he went to the Dresdner Eislöwen.

In the following seasons, Sikora established himself as a playmaker, constant point collector and excellent face-off player in the major league . From the 2002/03 season onwards, the Dresden team reached the playoffs of the major league again and again thanks to his style of play, but promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga only succeeded in 2004/05.

After a year in the 2nd Bundesliga for Dresden, he moved to SC Riessersee in the Oberliga, where he played a convincing season (twelfth-best scorer in the main round, second-most assists). In June 2007 he was again committed by manager Jan Tábor for the Dresdner Eislöwen.

Even after his return to the Eislöwen, he played a convincing season, especially in teamwork with Kevin Gardner . In February 2008 he was seriously injured in a game against the Rote Teufel Bad Nauheim . A short time later, he took on coaching duties for the Eislöwen to support the team in the playoffs.

In the following season, in which the Eislöwen returned to the 2nd Bundesliga, Sikora initially played with a foreign license and the hope of getting German citizenship. After this hope was not fulfilled and more contingent players were signed, the management of the Eislöwen decided in early December 2008 to take Sikora on leave. In the spring of 2009 he received German citizenship. In July 2009 he was signed by the newly promoted ESV Kaufbeuren and played there until the end of the 2010/11 season.

After two years with the Kassel Huskies and one season with EHC Erfurt , Sikora switched to ERC Sonthofen in summer 2014 , where he spent one season. The following year he moved to the Bayernliga to the Memmingen Indians , where he let his career end and ended in 2016.

Since the end of his career, he has been the youth coach of HC Oceláři Třinec . In September 2017, his jersey number # 22 was blocked by the Dresden Ice Lions due to his services to the Dresden ice hockey and a jersey with his number was pulled under the roof of the EnergieVerbund Arena .
