Václav Pletka (born June 8, 1979 in Mladá Boleslav , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech ice hockey player who has been under contract as an amateur coach at HC Jičín in the fourth Czech division ( regional class ) since 2017 .
Career
Václav Pletka began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth of HC Mladá Boleslav , where he was active until 1998. He then moved to HC Oceláři Třinec , for whom he was on the ice from 1998 to 2000 in the Czech extra league . During this period, the winger was also selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1999 in the seventh round as a total of 208 players by the Philadelphia Flyers , for which he made his debut in the National Hockey League in the 2001/02 season , where he was only in one Game was used, in which he remained pointless and punished. The Czech spent the remaining two years in the Philadelphia Flyers' franchise with their farm team from the American Hockey League , the Philadelphia Phantoms .
In the summer of 2002 Pletka returned to his ex-club HC Oceláři Třinec, for whom he played in the extra league for the following four years. In the 2005/06 season he also played a total of eight games for HK Dynamo Moscow from the Russian Super League , with which he won the IIHF European Champions Cup . The season ended the left shooter at the Czech first division club Bílí Tygři Liberec , for whom he played until 2010.
In January 2010 he was given in exchange for Štěpán Hřebejk to HC České Budějovice .
In November 2011, Pletka was first loaned from HC České Budějovice to HC Škoda Plzeň , and later he moved permanently to Pilsen . With his new club, Pletka won the Czech championship title in 2013 . In January 2015 Pletka was loaned to the relegation-threatened HC Slavia Prague and denied the relegation round and league relegation with this, with Slavia Prague not making relegation. In the following season he was loaned to the second division club Rytíři Kladno and a month later to HC Benátky nad Jizerou . From there he moved to HC Stadion Litoměřice in June 2016 , which in turn loaned him to HC Slavia Prague in winter 2017.
Pletka has been under contract as a player-coach at the fourth-class HC Jičín since 2017.
International
For the Czech Republic Pletka took part in the U20 Junior World Championship in 1999 , where he finished seventh with his team.
