David Hruška (born January 8, 1977 in Sokolov , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech ice hockey player who has played again in the third Czech division for HC Baník Sokolov since 2016 .
Career
David Hruška began his career in his hometown with HC Baník Sokolov before he was selected ( drafted ) in the sixth round in the sixth round in the sixth round of the Ottawa Senators during the 1995 NHL Entry Draft . A short time later he was selected by the Red Deer Rebels from the WHL during the European Junior Draft . He completed only 28 games for the Rebels, but in which he scored 14 goals and 14 assists. In a game against the Medicine Hat Tigers Hruška scored five goals, so that he has since held this team record of the Rebels. In December 2005 he returned to the Czech Republic to play for HC Petra Vsetín . Hruška only played in one playoff game for Vsetín, but in the end won the Czech championship with the team . In the following season he went to the ice in four games for his home club in Sokolov, but otherwise continued to play in Vsetín. In the playoffs he was used in six games and at the end of the season, winning the championship could be celebrated again. He came to HC Karlovy Vary via HC Slezan Opava in 1999 , for which he played until 2001. The following season then brought the breakthrough for Hruška: In 42 Extraliga games he scored 31 goals for HC Chemopetrol Litvínov and HC Femax Havířov , which brought him the top scorer's crown. Since his team missed the playoffs, he moved to the National League A for EHC Kloten , for which he completed a playoff game.
In the summer of 2002 he was signed by HC Slavia Prague, where he played until 2009. In the 2002/03 and 2007/08 seasons he won two more Czech championship titles with Slavia and was particularly brilliant during the 2007/08 playoffs, when he scored six goals and 10 assists in 19 games.
In December 2009 Hruška Slavia left Prague and was obliged by KLH Chomutov from the 1st division and won the second division championship with the KLH at the end of the season. In November 2010 he was loaned to HC Energie Karlovy Vary, but returned to the KLH Chomutov squad before the play-offs. In 2012 he made promotion to the extra league with the KLH after winning the championship in the first division. During the season, the club had also renamed Piráti Chomutov .
After the 2013/14 season, Hruška left the team from Chomutov and was again committed by HC Karlovy Vary. For this he played until October 2015, before he returned to Slavia Prague, which had in the meantime been relegated to the second division. In the summer of 2016 he decided to return to his hometown club HC Baník Sokolov before he was signed by EHC Wattens from the Tyrolean elite league during the season .
Hruška has been playing for his HC Baník Sokolov again since 2017.
