Tomáš Vlasák (born January 15, 1975 in Prague , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech ice hockey player who played for HC Slavia Prague , HC Plzeň and HC Litvínov in the Extraliga on the position of the right winger for many years . He also played for HK Awangard Omsk and ten games in the National Hockey League for the Los Angeles Kings .

Career

Tomáš Vlasák began his career in the offspring of HC Slavia Prague , for whose professional team he made his debut in the first division of Czechoslovakia in the 1992/93 season . In 1993 he moved to HC Litvínov and in the following five seasons developed into one of the best scorers in the Czech extra league founded in 1993 . At the end of the 1995/96 season he reached the playoff final with his team, in which they were defeated by HC Petra Vsetín 1: 4. In 1998 he was signed by the HPK Hämeenlinna and was able to prove his offensive strength in the 1998/99 season : He became the third best scorer in the entire league, was elected to the All-Star team and reached the playoff semifinals with his new team. In the following season he was named fourth best scorer in the league and in January 2000 as player of the month .

At the beginning of the 2000/01 season, Vlasák got the chance to play in the National Hockey League . He was used by the Los Angeles Kings , of whom he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1993 in the fifth round as a total of 120th player, ten times in the NHL, where he got one goal and three assists. He made his NHL debut on October 17, 2000 against the Nashville Predators , his first and only goal he scored on October 23, 2000 against the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim . He also played five games for the Lowell Lock Monsters in the American Hockey League . On December 5, 2000 he got the release of the Kings and ended the season at the HPK in Finland. In the summer of 2001, he signed a contract with HC Ambrì-Piotta from the Swiss National League A , for which he scored 46 points in 49 competitive games. He was then signed by HK Awangard Omsk , where he again impressed offensively and was the top scorer of the 2002/03 season. A year later he won the Russian championship with Awangard . After this success he moved to Ak Bars Kazan , but returned to the Czech Republic after five games for Kazan and from then on played again for his home club, HC Slavia Prague .

In the middle of the 2006/07 season he left this and was signed by Linköpings HC . With the Swedish top club he reached the final of the Swedish championship, in which his team MODO Hockey lost 2: 4. In the summer of 2007, Vlasák agreed with HC Lasselsberger Plzeň on a two-year contract, where he and Martin Straka were among the best strikers. Ultimately, he played for HC Plzeň until 2014, before moving again to HC Slavia Prague. He ended his career after the 2014/15 season.

International

Tomáš Vlasák completed his first major international tournament for the Czechoslovak national team at the U18 European Junior Championship in 1992 , where the selection team won the gold medal. From 1993 he went on the ice for the Czech selection teams and took third place with the U18 selection at the U18 European Junior Championships in 1993 . A year later he took part in the 1994 Junior World Championship .

It was not until 1999 that he was reappointed to the national team and with it won three gold medals at world championships in a row: 1999 , 2000 and 2001 . He also took part in the 2002 World Cup and the 2004 World Cup of Hockey , where he won the bronze medal.

As a functionary and trainer

Vlasák has been a sports manager at HC Plzeň since 2015 and has also been a coach since 2016.
