Māris Bičevskis (born August 3, 1991 in Riga , Latvian SSR ) is a Latvian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Mountfield HK from Hradec Králové in the Czech Extraliga since 2018 . His sister Ilze Bičevska is also a hockey player.

Career

Māris Bičevskis comes from the youth division of SK Riga , for whose U18 team he was active in the second Latvian division in the 2007/08 season. In the following season he was active for the U20 juniors of the club, which took part in the game of the Latvian ice hockey league as SK LSPA / Riga . At the same time he was also used in the U20 junior league of Latvia. 2009 much of the U20 team in which was KHL - Franchise of Dinamo Riga integrated and played in the 2009/10 season as Dinamo-Juniors Riga in the Belarusian Extraliga . In 2010 the Dinamo Juniors were transferred to HK Riga, which participated in the Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja Liga (MHL) from the 2010/11 season .

In December 2011 Bičevskis was appointed to the KHL squad of Dinamo Riga for the first time and made his debut at the Spengler Cup 2011 for the professional team. He made his KHL debut in January 2012 and completed a total of 20 KHL games by the end of the season. In the 2012/13 season he was part of Dinamo Riga's regular squad and scored 6 points in a total of 58 games this season. He won the Nadezhda Cup with Dinamo , the trophy of the KHL Cup competition for non-playoff participants.

After 291 KHL games for Dinamo, he left the club in summer 2018 and was signed by Mountfield HK Hradec Králové from the Czech extra league.

International

Bičevskis already played in the junior division for Latvia. At the U18 World Championships in 2008 and 2009 and the U20 World Championships in 2011 , he was on the ice in Division I, whereby in 2009 and 2011 he was promoted to the top division. For the men's selection of the Balts, he has so far completed 18 international matches, but has not yet been used in a world championship.
