Oskars Cibuļskis (born April 9, 1988 in Riga , Latvian SSR ) is a Latvian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Mountfield HK from Hradec Králové in the Czech extra league since May 2017 .
Career
Oskars Cibuļskis began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown at SK LSPA / Riga , for which he participated in the Latvian ice hockey league from 2004 to 2008 . In the 2005/06 season, the defender played parallel for HK Riga 2000 when he was on the ice in two games in the Belarusian extra league . In 2008 he was nominated for the all-star game of the Latvian ice hockey league. The former junior national player spent the 2008/09 season at EC Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian Erste Bank Eishockey Liga . With the Salzburg team he reached the playoff final, in which he and his team were defeated by the EC KAC in the best-of-seven series with 3: 4 wins. During the season, the Latvian scored 15 points, three of which were goals, in a total of 69 games.
After Cibuļskis was able to assert himself in the professional field at EC Red Bull, he returned to his Latvian homeland for the 2009/10 season , where he received a contract with Dinamo Riga in the Continental Hockey League founded a year earlier . In his first KHL season he was only used sporadically for Dinamo Riga. He also remained pointless in 15 games. The season was much more successful for him at Dinamo's farm team , the Dinamo Juniors Riga , for whom he scored four goals in 21 games in the Belarusian extra league and provided eight assists. In the 2010/11 season , Cibuļskis managed to earn a regular place at Dinamo Riga in the KHL.
In the following six years he was mostly part of the regular Dinamo squad, with which he won the Nadezhda Cup in 2013, to which he made a significant contribution as the best defensive player in the competition. After more than 300 KHL games for Dinamo, he left the club in May 2017 and was signed by Mountfield HK Hradec Králové from the Czech extra league.
International
For Latvia, Cibuļskis took part in the junior division of the U18 World Championships in Division I in 2005 and 2006 and the U20 World Championships in 2007 and 2008, also in Division I. In 2006 he was promoted to the top division with the U18 juniors. He repeated the same success in 2008 with the Latvian U20 juniors.
At senior level, he stood for the first time in the World Cup 2011 in the contingent of his country . Further world championships followed in 2012 , 2015 , 2016 and 2017 .
