Bernd Helmig (born June 28, 1965 in Cologne ) is a German university professor for business administration .

Bernd Helmig studied at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg , where he received his degree in business administration in 1993. He then went to the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg , where he received his doctorate in 1997. rer. pole. received his doctorate and habilitated in 2001.
Professional background
From 2001 to 2008 Bernd Helmig held the chair for Nonprofit Management and Marketing at the University of Friborg (Switzerland) , where he also acted as director of the Association Management Institute - VMI from 2005 to 2008. Various academic research and teaching stays took him to the Facultés universitaires Notre-Dame de la Paix (FUNDP) Namur (Belgium; 1998–1999), the University of Edinburgh (UK; 1999 and 2006) and the Harvard Business School (USA; 2002 ). In 2006 Helmig was offered a chair in public management at the University of Hamburg , which he did not accept. In 2007 he received an offer from the University of Mannheim , which he accepted the following year.
Since 2008, Helmig has held the chair for General Business Administration , Public & Nonprofit Management at the Faculty of Business Administration. From 2008 to 2010 Helmig held the office of Vice Dean for International Relations and from 2009 to 2011 Academic Director for Executive Education at the Mannheim Business School gGmbH, which was founded to organize management training . In 2012, Bernd Helmig was offered a professorship for sports and health management at the Technical University of Munich , which he did not accept.
Research priorities
The main research focus of his chair is called “Society-oriented service management in public and non-profit organizations”. From a functional point of view, Helmig's work focuses on the areas of strategic management , personnel management , organization and market-oriented leadership.
