Václav Skuhravý (born January 16, 1979 in Slaný , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech ice hockey player who has been playing again for HC Energie Karlovy Vary in the Czech extra league since spring 2016 .

Career

Václav Skuhravý began his career in the offspring of HC Karlovy Vary, for whom he made his debut in the extra league at the end of the 1998/99 season. In the following season he played for Ytong Brno in the U20 extra league and third-class second division of the Czech Republic, before moving to HC Rabat Kladno in 2000 . In the following two years he played mainly for Kladno in the extra league , but also came again and again to appearances in the second-class first division for SK Kadaň . In the summer of 2002 he moved back to his hometown club in Karlovy Vary, where he has been playing ever since. In both the 2005/06 season and 2006/07 he was the player with the most penalty minutes in the Extraliga. In the following season he reached the playoff final against HC Slavia Prague with his team . Slavia won this series 4: 3, so that HC Energie Karlovy Vary was only Czech runner-up . A year later he won the Czech championship with Karlovy Vary.

He spent the 2013/14 season at HC České Budějovice in the first division and also played 12 games for HC Verva Litvínov with a B license . In August 2014 he returned to Karlovy Vary with a two-month contract, where his contract was later extended until the end of the season. In July 2015 Skuhravý moved back to the club from Kladno , who now played in the first division under the name Rytíři Kladno . Shortly before the start of the Extraliga relegation, he returned to the HC Energie squad on loan and helped it to stay in the Extraliga. Then he got a new contract with the club from Karlsbad .

International

Václav Skuhravý has only participated in one world championship in his career to date, but was appointed to the national team several times between 2005 and 2009 for preparatory games and tournaments of the Euro Hockey League . At the men's ice hockey world championship in 2008 , he was used in two games.

Play style

Václav Skuhravý is a defensive striker who is regularly one of the players with the most penalty minutes in the Extraliga. In the seasons 2005/06, 2006/07 and 2014/15 he was even the player with the most penalty minutes in the extra league, in 2013/14 he took the same place in the first division. Between 2007 and 2013 he was the team captain of HC Energie Karlovy Vary .
