Peter Mueller (born April 14, 1988 in Bloomington , Minnesota ) is an American ice hockey player who has played for HC Kometa Brno in the Czech Extraliga on the position of right winger since 2018 .
Career
Mueller started his career at the age of 15 in the USA Hockey National Team Development Program of the USA Hockey Association . There he was initially active in the teams of the U17 and U18 classes, but was also regularly used in the North American Hockey League in the association's elite team. In its two seasons, the center impressed with 50 scorer points in 57 games, but in the summer of 2005 decided against a continuation of the career at college or university, which is atypical for an American. Instead, Mueller moved to the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League , where he went on ice for two seasons for the Everett Silvertips . In his rookie year , Mueller scored 58 points and was awarded the Jim Piggott Memorial Trophy for the best newcomer to the league at the end of the season . In addition, it chose the Phoenix Coyotes in the NHL Entry Draft in 2006 from the first lap in eighth overall position. In the following year, Mueller increased his point yield by another 20 points, whereupon he received his first professional contract with the Coyotes in the summer of 2007.
In the NHL, Mueller initially had problems acclimatizing and started the season with problems. He scored his first goal two weeks after the start of the season, but then got along better with the way the professionals played. On November 7th, he posted his first hat trick and was invited to the NHL YoungStars Game in January . He was also named Rookie of the Month that same month . He ended the season with 54 points from 81 games in fourth place in the rookies scorer ranking and the third best scorer of the Coyotes.
Shortly before the end of the transfer of the 2009/10 season , the striker was transferred to Denver for the Colorado Avalanche after mixed performances together with Kevin Porter , the Coyotes received Wojtek Wolski in return . In Colorado, his performance curve showed steep up in the first games, he was able to score 20 points in 15 games, before he was on April 4, 2010 in the game against the San Jose Sharks after a nudge in the gang of defender Rob Blake with a skull -Brain trauma was out for the rest of the season. After the attacker recovered from his injury, he suffered another traumatic brain injury during a preparatory game for the 2010/11 season against the Los Angeles Kings , causing him to be out for the entire season. The winger only returned to the Avalanche squad in the 2011/12 season, but was unable to build on previous years either there or afterwards with the Florida Panthers in the 2012/13 season.
After Mueller had not found a new employer in North America in the summer of 2013, he moved to Switzerland for two years , where he went on the ice for the Kloten Flyers . He then spent the 2015/16 season in the Svenska Hockeyligan with the Malmö Redhawks and the 2016/17 season in the American Hockey League with the Providence Bruins , before signing him to EC Red Bull Salzburg in September 2017 . For the Red Bulls , he played a total of 57 games in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League , scoring 61 points (19 goals, 42 assists). He then moved to the reigning Czech champions HC Kometa Brno in the extra league .
International
Mueller represented the US national team at the 2007 Junior World Cup in Sweden . After a weak preliminary round, he led the team with Erik Johnson and Patrick Kane to win the bronze medal. In the senior sector, he was nominated for the 2008 World Cup in Canada .
