Kurt Herzog (born June 4, 1951 in Hamburg ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ). From 2008 to 2013 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

Life

Herzog graduated from high school in Norderstedt in 1970 . He then studied electrical engineering at the University of Braunschweig until 1977 . In 1982 he moved to Dannenberg , where he opened a health food store. He also worked in research and development at Siemens . Most recently he was an employee of a company for heating and solar technology in Dannenberg until his election to the state parliament. Herzog is also the managing director of a solar operating company.

politics

Since 1986, Herzog was councilor of the city of Dannenberg. Since 1996 he has been a councilor of the Dannenberg municipality and from 1996 to 2001 deputy mayor of this municipality. From 1991 he was a member of the district council in the Lüchow-Dannenberg district . In 1996 he joined the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen party, for which he was deputy district administrator from 1996 to 2000. He resigned from Alliance 90 / The Greens in 2000. He was then a co-founder of the "Green List Wendland" voter association, of which he was chairman until 2008. First he was a member of the WASG and after merging with the PDS he became a member of the Left Party. In the state elections in 2008 he entered the state parliament of Lower Saxony via the state list of the Left. He did not run for the 2013 state election .
