The 2018/19 season is the eleventh season of the international league of the Hungarian Ice Hockey Federation . After its name sponsor Erste Bank , the former MOL League has been called Erste Liga Romania and an Austrian team take part in the league .

The two finalists from the previous years MAC Budapest and DVTK Jegesmedvék switched to the Slovakian extra league for the 2018/19 season . New in the league were Vasas SC Budapest , who already took part in the MOL league from 2008 to 2011 and became its champion as Budapest Stars in 2010 , the Gyergyói HK from Romania, who played in the then MOL league in 2008/09 Debreceni EAC as the successor to Debreceni HK , who played in the MOL league from 2014 to 2017, and KMH Budapest , which has so far participated in the third-class Slovak 2nd division .
