Tihamér Becze (born December 20, 1990 in Lăzarea ) is a Romanian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Dunaújvárosi Acélbikák in the MOL league since December 2017 .

Career

Club

Tihamér Becze, who belongs to the Hungarian-speaking Szekler minority in Romania , began his career as a hockey player in the youth department of the CS Progym Gheorgheni . The season 2006/07 he spent with Dunaújvárosi Acélbikák in the Hungarian youth league . From 2007 to 2009 he played with the Budapest Stars , initially in the youth division, from 2008 in the MOL League , a competition series with teams from Hungary and Romania. After he was runner-up with the team from the Hungarian capital in 2009, he gained experience in Northern Europe at Mörrums GoIS IK in Sweden , but returned to the Balkans after just one year. From 2010 to 2014 he played at HSC Csíkszereda , the traditional club of the Szeklers in Miercurea Ciuc , for which he was active in both the Romanian ice hockey league and the MOL league. In his first year in Transylvania , he and his team won the MOL League and the Romanian National Cup . The Romanian league was dominated by HSC Csíkszereda anyway. In 2014 he won the cup again. He then moved to Miskolci Jegesmedvék JSE for a year , with whom he was able to win the MOL League again in 2015, as well as the Hungarian championship and the Hungarian cup competition. After these successes he was committed by Alba Volán Székesfehérvár , the Hungarian club in the Austrian ice hockey league , but he was also used in the second team of Alba Aolán in the MOL league. After only one year at Alba Volán, he moved to Dunaújvárosi Acélbikák, where he also played in the MOL league. In 2017 he initially moved to the Hungarian capital club Újpesti TE , which he left in December to return to Dunaújváros.

International

Becze plays internationally in contrast to other Szeklers who compete for Hungary , for his native Romania . He was already active in the junior division at world championships. For example, he took part in the 2010 U20 World Cup in Division II when he was voted the best player on his team. He made his debut in the men's national team at the World Championships in Division I in 2009 , but could not prevent his country's relegation to Division II, even if he scored the only tournament goal of the Romanians in the 5-1 defeat against the Netherlands (at 38 goals conceded in five games). In 2010 and 2011 he took part in the Division II competitions of the World Cup. After he was promoted again at the 2011 tournament - also thanks to six goals from Becze - he competed with Romania in Division I of the World Cup in 2012 and 2013 .

He also played for Romania in November 2012 in qualifying for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi .
