Martin Podlešák (born September 26, 1982 in Mělník , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC České Budějovice in the Czech extra league since 2010 .

Career

Podlešák started ice hockey in his hometown Mělník at the age of five. He started his career in the junior team of HC Sparta Prague in the U20 extra league , for which he played until 2000.

The striker then moved to the North American Western Hockey League , first to the Tri-City Americans and later in the season to the Lethbridge Hurricanes . During this time he was drafted by the Phoenix Coyotes in the NHL Entry Draft 2001 in the second round in a total of 45th place. He completed the preparation for the 2001/02 season with the team, but ultimately could not fight for a regular place in the NHL team. The Czech was therefore sent to the farm team , the Springfield Falcons from the American Hockey League . In 2004, the left shooter went to league rivals Utah Grizzlies , for which he only completed ten games. His last season in North America for the time being, Podlešák spent with the San Antonio Rampage , in which he scored eight points scorer in 13 games. After the season he returned to his hometown club Sparta Prague, with whom he became Czech champions in 2007 .

For the 2009/10 season Podlešák moved within the Czech extra league to HC České Budějovice , for whom he has played since then.
