Jaroslav Obšut (born March 9, 1976 in Prešov , Czechoslovakia ) is a Slovak ice hockey player who was last under contract in 2012 at HK Donbass Donetsk in the Continental Hockey League .

Career

Jaroslav Obšut began his career as a hockey player with the North Battleford North Stars, for which he was active in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League . The winger then played for two years in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League for the Swift Current Broncos , Edmonton Ice and Medicine Hat Tigers , ending the 1996/97 season with the Toledo Storm from the East Coast Hockey League . In the following season he ran almost exclusively for the Raleigh Icecaps in the ECHL, but also played four games for the Syracuse Crunch from the American Hockey League . From 1998 to 2001 he was under contract with the Worcester IceCats from the AHL. During this period he also ran for the Peoria Rivermen and Augusta Lynx in the ECHL, and the Manitoba Moose in the International Hockey League . During the 2000/01 season he also made his debut in the National Hockey League for the St. Louis Blues , remained pointless in four games and received two penalty minutes.

In the 2001/02 season Obšut came for the Colorado Avalanche to three more missions in the NHL, but was the entire rest of the time for their AHL farm team Hershey Bears on the ice. After another two years in the AHL at his ex-club Manitoba Moose, which changed league after the IHL was dissolved in 2001, the national player and Olympic participant went to Europe from 2002, where he worked for Luleå HF in Sweden from 2004 to 2009 Elitserien was active. He was then committed to the 2009/10 season by HK Spartak Moscow from the Continental Hockey League . For the capital club, the Slovak scored ten goals in his first KHL season in a total of 56 games and provided another 17 assists. In November 2010 he was signed by Atlant Mytishchi . With this he reached in the 2010/11 season the finals for the Gagarin Cup , in which the team was defeated in five games against Salawat Yulayev Ufa . In May 2011 Obšut signed a contract with HK Dinamo Minsk .

In late summer and autumn 2012 he played for HK Donbass Donetsk in the KHL before he was released in November 2012.

International

For Slovakia Obšut took part in the World Championships in 2005 and 2009 , the World Cup of Hockey 2004 and the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City .
