Gregory Aymond
Gregory Michael Aymond (born November 12, 1949 in New Orleans , USA ) is Archbishop of New Orleans .
Life
Gregory Aymond received on 10 May 1975 by the Archbishop of New Orleans, Philip Hannan , the sacrament of Holy Orders .
November 19, 1996 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the titular of Acholla and auxiliary bishop in New Orleans. The Archbishop of New Orleans, Francis Schulte , donated him episcopal ordination on January 10, 1997 ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Miami , John Clement Favalora , and the Archbishop Emeritus of New Orleans, Philip Hannan. On June 2, 2000, John Paul II appointed him Coadjutor Bishop of Austin . The inauguration took place on August 3 of the same year. Gregory Michael Aymond became Bishop of Austin on January 2, 2001, succeeding John Edward McCarthy , who retired on grounds of age. On June 12, 2009 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . to the Archbishop of New Orleans. The inauguration took place on August 20 of the same year.
Gregory Aymond is Grand Officer of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem and Grand Prior of the U.S. Lieutenancy USA Southeastern of the Order.
From April 3, 2019 to August 20, 2020 he was also Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Alexandria for the duration of the Sedis vacancy .
