The diocese of Alexandria ( lat .: Dioecesis Alexandrina ) in the US state of Louisiana was taken out on July 29, 1853 as the diocese of Natchitoches from the archbishopric of New Orleans , to which it is still subject as a suffragan . On August 6, 1910, it changed its name to Alexandria, 1976 to Alexandria-Shreveport and from June 16, 1986 back to Alexandria after Shreveport was separated as an independent diocese.
