The Grant Parish ( French : Paroisse de Grant ) is a parish in the state of Louisiana in the United States . In 2010, the Parish had 22,309 residents and a population density of 13.4 people per square kilometer. The Parish Seat is Colfax , named after Vice-President Schuyler Colfax .

Grant Parish was formed in 1869 from parts of Rapides Parish and Winn Parish. It was named after the US President Ulysses S. Grant .

Four buildings in the parish are on the National Register of Historic Places (as of November 4, 2017).

According to the 2000 census , there were 18,698 people in 7,073 households and 5,276 families in Grant Parish. The population density was 11 people per square kilometer.
