The Sabine Parish ( French : Paroisse de la Sabine ) is a Parish in the state of Louisiana in the United States . In 2010, the Parish had 24,233 residents and a population density of 10.8 people per square kilometer. The Parish Seat is Many .

The Parish is located in northwest Louisiana on the Texas border . The Sabine Parish has an area of 2620 square kilometers, of which 379 square kilometers are water.
The largest and at the same time eponymous river in Sabine Parish is the Sabine River , which forms the border with Texas and was dammed up to form the Toledo Bend Reservoir .

history
The Sabine Parish was formed in 1843 from parts of the Caddo Parish and the Natchitoches Parish and named after the Sabine River.
One building in the Parish has the status of a National Historic Landmark , Fort Jesup , due to its historical significance . A total of seven buildings and sites in the Parish are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (as of November 9, 2017).

According to the 2000 census , Sabine Parish had 23,459 people in 9,221 households and 6,593 families. The population density was 10 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 72.67 percent white, 16.87 percent African American, 7.79 percent Native American, 0.15 percent Asian, 0.02 percent from the Pacific island area and 0.32 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 2.18 percent were descended from two or more races. 2.74 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any of the above mentioned groups.
Of the 9,221 households, 31.4 percent had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 55.7 percent were married couples living together, 12.0 percent were single mothers, 28.5 percent were non-families, 26.0 percent were single households and 12.8 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.50 and the average family size was 3.00 people.
In relation to the entire Parish, the population consisted of 26.2 percent of residents under 18 years of age, 8.3 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 24.5 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, 24.4 percent between 45 and 64 years of age 16.5 percent were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were statistically 95.7 males. For every 100 women aged 18 or over, there were 92.6 men.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 26,655 , and the median income for a family is $ 32,470. Males had a median income of $ 29,726 versus $ 18,514 for females. The per capita income was $ 15,199. 16.3 percent of families and 21.5 percent of the population are below the poverty line. Of these, 29.0 percent were children or adolescents under the age of 18 and 17.5 percent were people over 65 years of age.
