geography
The Parish is located in northern Louisiana and is crossed by the Ouachita River from north to south . To the east, the Caldwell County is bounded by the Boeuf River , which flows further south into the Ouachita River.
Caldwell Parish is approximately 100 km away to north Arkansas and east Mississippi . It has an area of 1400 square kilometers, of which 29 square kilometers are water.

history
The Caldwell Parish was formed in 1838 from parts of the Catahoula and the Ouachita Parish within its current boundaries. It was named after the local plantation owner family Caldwell .
