The Allen Parish ( French. : Paroisse d'Allen ) is a Parish in US -amerikanischen State Louisiana . In 2010 , the parish had 25,764 residents and a population density of 13 people per square kilometer. The administrative seat ( Parish Seat ) is Oberlin .
geography
The Parish is located in west-central Louisiana, about 60 km to the west from Texas , about 100 km to the south from the Gulf of Mexico and has an area of 1980 square kilometers, of which three square kilometers are water. The following neighboring parishes border the Allen Parish:

history
The Allen Parish was formed on June 12, 1912 from parts of the Calcasieu Parish. It was named after Henry Watkins Allen (1820–1866), a former governor of the non-union part of Louisiana during the Civil War .
Four buildings in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (as of October 23, 2017).
