The West Baton Rouge Parish ( French Paroisse de Bâton Rouge Ouest ) is a parish in the state of Louisiana in the United States . In 2010, the Parish had 23,788 residents and a population density of 48.1 people per square kilometer. The Parish Seat is Port Allen .

The West Baton Rouge Parish is part of the metropolitan area around the city of Baton Rouge .

West Baton Rouge Parish was formed in 1807 as one of the 19 original parishes. In 1812 it was divided into east and west.

According to the 2000 census , West Baton Rouge Parish had 21,601 people in 7,663 households and 5,739 families. The population density was 44 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 62.78 percent white, 35.49 percent African American, 0.20 percent Native American, 0.19 percent Asian, 0.02 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.53 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.79 percent were descended from two or more races.
