The Webster Parish ( French Paroisse de Webster ) is a parish in the state of Louisiana in the United States . At the 2010 census , the Parish had 41,207 residents and a population density of 26.7 people per square kilometer. The administrative seat ( Parish Seat ) is Minden .

The Parish is located in northwest Louisiana, borders Arkansas in the north , is about 55 km from Texas in the west and has an area of 1,593 square kilometers, of which 51 square kilometers are water. It borders the following parishes and counties:

history
Webster Parish was formed in 1871 from parts of the Bienville Parish, Bossier Parish and Claiborne Parish. It was named after Daniel Webster (1782-1852), a former Secretary of State of the United States.

According to the 2000 census, the population of Webster Parish was 41,831. 936 of these people lived in collective accommodation, the other residents lived in 16,501 households and 11,567 families. The population density was 27 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 65.51 percent white, 32.83 percent African American, 0.34 percent Native American, 0.19 percent Asian, 0.04 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.22 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.86 percent were descended from two or more races. 0.90 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any of the above mentioned groups.
Of the 16,501 households, 30.4 percent had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 49.7 percent were married couples living together, 16.3 percent were single mothers, 29.9 percent were non-families, 27.0 percent were single households and 12.9 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 2.99 people.
In relation to the entire Parish, the population was composed of 25.6 percent of residents under 18 years of age, 8.6 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 26.0 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, 23.6 percent between 45 and 64 years of age 16.3 percent were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 91.8 males. For every 100 women aged 18 years or older, there were 88.2 men.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 28,408 , and the median income for a family is $ 35,119. Males had a median income of $ 30,343 versus $ 20,907 for females. The per capita income was $ 15,203. 15.3 percent of families and 20.2 percent of the population lived below the poverty line. These included 29.6 percent of children and adolescents under the age of 18 and 16.1 percent of senior citizens aged 65 and over.
