The Iberville Parish ( French : Paroisse d'Iberville ) is a parish in the state of Louisiana in the United States . In 2010, the parish had 33,387 residents and a population density of 20.8 people per square kilometer. The Parish Seat is Plaquemine .
The Iberville Parish is part of the metropolitan area around the city of Baton Rouge .

The Parish is located southeast of the geographic center of Louisiana, is about 60 km from the Gulf of Mexico in the south and has an area of 1691 square kilometers, of which 89 square kilometers are water. It borders on the following parishes:

history
The Iberville Parish was formed on April 10, 1805 as one of the 19 original parishes. It was named after Pierre Le Moyne d'Iberville (1661–1706), founder of the French colony of Louisiana .

According to the 2000 census , Iberville Parish had 33,320 people in 10,674 households and 8,016 families. The population density was 21 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 49.26 percent white, 49.70 percent African American, 0.18 percent Native American, 0.26 percent Asian, 0.01 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.14 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.45 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any of the above mentioned groups were 1.03 percent of the population.
Of the 10,674 households, 36.2 percent had children and adolescents under the age of 18 living with them. 49.6 percent were married couples living together, 20.4 percent were single mothers, 24.9 percent were non-families, 21.9 percent were single households and 8.5 percent had people aged 65 years or over. The average household size was 2.81 and the average family size was 3.29 people.
In relation to the entire Parish, the population was composed of 26.2 percent residents under 18 years of age, 10.5 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 31.1 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, 21.5 percent between 45 and 64 years of age 10.7 percent were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were statistically 99.8 males. For every 100 women aged 18 or over there were 98.5 men.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 29,039 , and the median income for a family is $ 34,100. Males had a median income of $ 32,074 versus $ 20,007 for females. The per capita income was $ 13,272. 19.5 percent of families, 23.1 percent of the population lived below the poverty line. Of these, 30.1 percent were children or adolescents under the age of 18 and 18.3 percent were people over 65 years of age.
