The Beauregard Parish ( French Paroisse de Beauregard ) is a Parish in US -amerikanischen State Louisiana . In 2010 , the parish had 35,654 residents and a population density of 11.9 people per square kilometer. The administrative seat ( Parish Seat ) is DeRidder , named after Ella De Ridder , a sister-in-law of the railway magnate Jan De Goeijen .

The Parish is located in western Louisiana and is bounded to the west by the Sabine River , which forms the border with Texas . history

Pierre Gustave Toutant Beauregard

The Beauregard Parish was formed on June 12, 1912 from parts of the Calcasieu Parish. It was later named after Pierre G. T. Beauregard , a Confederate general in the American Civil War .

The area of ​​today's Beauregard Parish was from 1806 to 1821 part of the " Neutral Ground " between the USA and Spain . The Adams-Onís Treaty , ratified by the USA in 1821, finally established the border between Texas, Spain, and the US state Louisiana.
