The Winn Parish ( French : Paroisse de Winn ) is a parish in the state of Louisiana in the United States . At the 2010 census , the Parish had 15,313 residents and a population density of 6.2 people per square kilometer. By 2014 the population had decreased to 14,743. The Parish Seat is Winnfield .
geography
The Parish is located in north-central Louisiana and is roughly equidistant from Texas , Arkansas and Mississippi . It has an area of 2478 square kilometers, of which 17 square kilometers are water.
In the west, Winn Parish is bordered by the Saline Bayou , which is protected as a National Wild and Scenic River and which flows into the Red River in the extreme southwest .

The Winn Parish was formed in 1852 from parts of the Catahoula Parish, the Natchitoches Parish and the Rapides Parish.
