The Lincoln Parish ( French : Paroisse de Lincoln ) is a parish in the state of Louisiana in the United States . In 2010, the parish had 46,735 residents and a population density of 38.3 people per square kilometer. The Parish Seat is Ruston .

Abraham Lincoln

The Lincoln Parish was formed in 1873 from parts of the Bienville Parish, Claiborne Parish, Jackson Parish and Union Parish. It was named after Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865), the sixteenth President of the USA.

According to the 2000 census , Lincoln Parish had 42,509 people in 15,235 households and 9,689 families. The population density was 35 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 57.42 percent white, 39.84 percent African American, 0.18 percent Native American, 1.28 percent Asian, 0.01 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 0.52 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 0.75 percent were descended from two or more races.
