The Roman Catholic Diocese of Saint Petersburg ( lat. : Dioecesis Sancti Petri in Florida ) is one in the United States located Roman Catholic diocese , based in Saint Petersburg , Florida .
history
The diocese of Saint Petersburg was on March 2, 1968 by Pope Paul VI. built with the Apostolic Constitution Cum Ecclesia from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Miami and the Diocese of Saint Augustine and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Miami as a suffragan . On June 16, 1984, the diocese of Saint Petersburg gave up parts of its territory to establish the diocese of Venice .
