The Diocese of Tyler ( Latin : Dioecesis Tylerensis ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church with its seat in the Texan city of Tyler .

It was built on December 12, 1986 from areas of the dioceses of Beaumont , Dallas and Galveston-Houston . It was initially under the Archdiocese of San Antonio as a suffragan diocese . Since December 29, 2004 it has been part of the newly created ecclesiastical province of Galveston-Houston.

It includes Anderson , Angelina , Bowie , Camp , Cass , Cherokee , Delta , Franklin , Freestone , Gregg , Harrison , Henderson , Hopkins , Houston , Lamar , Leon , Madison , Marion , Morris , Nacogdoches , Panola , Rains , Red River Counties , Rusk , Sabine , San Augustine , Shelby , Smith , Titus , Trinity , Upshur , Van Zandt and Wood .
