The Diocese of Burlington ( Latin Dioecesis Burlingtonensis , English Diocese of Burlington ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church and includes the US state of Vermont . It belongs with the Diocese of Fall River , the Diocese of Manchester , the Diocese of Portland , the Diocese of Springfield and the Diocese of Worcester to the ecclesiastical province of Boston . It was built on July 29, 1853 together with the diocese of Portland.

Until November 9, 2005, Kenneth A. Angell was Bishop of the Diocese of Burlington, whose resignation due to reasons of age Pope Benedict XVI. accepted that day. On the same day the previous Bishop Coadjutor Salvatore Ronald Matano was appointed as his successor.
