Spoileron

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term Spoilerons continues as a portmanteau word composed of the English words spoilers (spoilers) and Aileron ( aileron ). In aircraft, spoilerons are spoilers that, when applied asymmetrically, achieve the effect of ailerons. If a spoileron is activated on a wing, the lift there is reduced while the air resistance increases. Because of the one-sided effect, this leads to simultaneous rolling and yawing . Therefore, spoilerons complement or replace the ailerons on some aircraft to simplify or improve controls.
