CXFS

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

CXFS is a cluster file system from SGI , based on SGI's XFS file system . It enables multiple computers to access the same file system simultaneously and without conflicts.

A big difference between CXFS and other distributed file systems is that the data is managed independently of the metadata. This is implemented by a client-server model, in which the system for managing the metadata, the server, and the other computers act as clients. The file locks , called file locks , are also managed by the metadata server.

The metadata server runs under IRIX or Linux on the Origin and Altix systems from SGI. In addition to IRIX and other Unix-like operating systems , Mac OS X and Windows can also be used as clients .
