Altix is the name of a family of high-performance servers from Silicon Graphics (SGI) that are equipped with Intel Itanium processors. Depending on the model, an Altix can have up to 4096 processors. An adapted Linux is used as the operating system .

The Altix line was introduced in 2003 with the Altix 3000 . The system architecture ( ccNUMA ) and the mechanical structure are identical to the Origin 3000 equipped with MIPS processors . Over the intermediate stage of the Altix 3700 , which essentially introduced a higher integration density, the Altix 4700 was introduced in 2005 , with a completely new modularization concept based on blades .

If systems of the Altix family are equipped with a graphics module, they are called Prism .
