Flaperon

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A flaperon or wing flap is a rudder in aircraft technology that works mainly as an aileron , but can also be used as a flap at the same time . The term is composed of the English names Flap (Flap) and Aileron (aileron). In the case of smaller aircraft, for the sake of simplicity, flaperons usually extend over the entire trailing edge of the wing , while in larger aircraft, e.g. B. commercial passenger planes, individual flaperons are attached between the flaps. In the case of parallel use (flaps and ailerons not in neutral position), the two rudder functions are superimposed (differentiated).
