In aircraft, an elevon is a combination of elevator and ailerons . Instead of having separate elevators and ailerons on partially different wings, elevons are attached to the main wings and control both the pitch and roll of the aircraft.

Elevons are used on delta wing and flying wing aircraft . This applies primarily to very high speed aircraft. Examples are the American Convair supersonic fighter aircraft ( F-102 / F-106 , B-58 ), the Swedish Saab 35 Draken , the Concorde , the Space Shuttle and the Eurofighter .

The term elevon is a suitcase word from the English words elevator (German elevator ) and aileron (German aileron ).
