The Roman Catholic Diocese of Lansing ( lat. : Dioecesis Lansingensis ) is in the United States located Roman Catholic diocese , based in Lansing . It includes the nine counties of Clinton, Eaton, Genesee, Hillsdale, Ingham, Jackson, Lenawee, Livingston, Shiawassee, and Washtenaw of the state of Michigan .

history

Pope Pius XI founded it on May 22, 1937 from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Detroit , to which it was also subordinated as a suffragan diocese. On December 19, 1970 it lost part of its territory to the diocese of Kalamazoo .
