The Diocese of Beaumont ( Latin : Dioecesis Bellomontensis ) is a Roman Catholic diocese located in Texas in the United States , with its seat in Beaumont .

history

Pope Paul VI founded the diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Hortatione illa on June 25, 1966 from cession of territory of the Diocese of Galveston - Houston . It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of San Antonio as a suffragan diocese.

It lost part of its territory on December 12, 1986 in favor of the establishment of the Tyler Diocese . On December 29, 2004, it became part of the Ecclesiastical Province of Galveston-Houston.

The Diocese of Beaumont includes the counties of Chambers , Hardin , Jasper , Jefferson , Liberty , Newton , Orange , Polk and Tyler of the state of Texas.
