The Diocese of Syracuse ( Latin Dioecesis Syracusensis , English Diocese of Syracuse ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church based in Syracuse (New York) . It was taken out of the Albany diocese on November 26, 1886 and raised to an independent diocese.

The diocese includes the areas of Broome County , Chenango County , Cortland County , Madison County , Oneida County , Onondaga County, and Oswego County .

Episcopal Church is the Cathedral Immaculate Conception ( Immaculate Conception ). It was built in 1874 as St. Mary's Church and after renovations, additions and construction of the tower, it was consecrated again as a cathedral in 1910.
