James Michael Moynihan

James Michael Moynihan (born July 16, 1932 in Rochester , New York - † March 6, 2017 ) was an American clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Syracuse .

Life

James Michael Moynihan studied at St. Andrew and St. Bernard Seminary College and the Pontifical North America College . He received his doctorate from the Gregorian . In the chapel of the North America College he was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Rochester on December 15, 1957 by Archbishop Martin O'Connor .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Syracuse on April 4, 1995 . The Archbishop of New York , Cardinal John Joseph O'Connor , ordained him episcopal on May 29 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Joseph Thomas O'Keefe , Bishop Emeritus of Syracuse, and Matthew Harvey Clark , Bishop of Rochester.

On April 21, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
