Matthew Harvey Clark

Matthew Harvey Clark (born July 15, 1937 in Waterford ) is an American clergyman and emeritus Bishop of Rochester .

Life

Matthew Harvey Clark was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Albany on December 19, 1962 .

Pope John Paul II named him Bishop of Rochester on April 23, 1979 . The Pope personally donated him episcopal ordination on May 27 of the same year ; Co - consecrators were Duraisamy Simon Lourdusamy , Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , and Eduardo Martínez Somalo , substitute for the State Secretariat . The inauguration in the Diocese of Rochester took place on June 26 of the same year.

Pope Benedict XVI accepted his age-related retirement on September 21, 2012.
