The Pontifical North American College (Latin: Pontificum Collegium Civitatum Foederatarum Americae Septemtrionalis , English: Pontifical North American College, Italian: Collegio Americano del Nord) is a Catholic seminary in Rome with its seat in Vatican City .

The college was founded in 1859 by Pope Pius IX. Founded in the former Dominican convent of Santa Maria Assunta al monastero dell'Umiltà in the historic center of Rome near the Trevi Fountain . 1952 at the instigation of Pope Pius XII. a new building for the college was built on the Gianicolo in addition to the Casa Santa Maria .

The Pontifical North America College consists of a seminary and an institute for pastoral formation. Attached to the college is the US pilgrimage center in Rome as well as accommodation options for members of the Bishops' Conference of the United States, among others .

Only nationals of the United States can enroll at the Pontifical North America College ; third parties only with the special consent of the Board of Governors . This body is headed by the bishop of a North American diocese ; currently this is the Archbishop of Baltimore, Edwin Frederick O'Brien . The current Rector is Monsignor Peter C. Harman, a priest of the Diocese of Springfield, Illinois.

About 250 students were enrolled in the seminary for the 2014 academic year.
